The Women’s Initiative highlights the serious challenges faced by women fleeing precarious situations, including domestic abuse, homelessness, and poverty. Women fleeing abusive environments often have nothing in the immediate—no belongings, no money or safety net. Our goal is to provide emergency kits with essentials for these women in crisis – so they can have the basic essentials needed in the first 10 days. Hidden homelessness, which affects women disproportionately, is severely underreported. Many women head families seeking shelter, raise children in poverty, or experience hidden homelessness in their lifetime. These realities emphasize the urgent need for stronger support systems for women and mothers alike.
